Antimicrobial Disc Susceptibility Tests for Glucose Oxidase/Catalase System

Abstract

|
The effects of the glucose oxidase/catalase (GOX/CAT) system on three different fish spoilage microorganisms, Pseudomonas fragi, Pseudomonas fluorescens, and Flavobacterium lutescens were evaluated by the agar-overlay modification of the disc susceptibility test. The ranges of diameters of inhibition zones of P. fragi, P. fluorescens, and F. lutescens were 8.9∼10.8 ㎜, 9.6∼13.2 ㎜, and 11.2∼12.6 ㎜, respectively. Good correlations (r=0.96 for P. fragi; r=0.97 for P. fluorescens; r=0. 99 for F. lutescens) were obtained between sizes of inhibition zone and concentrations of GOX/CAT.
